THE BLACK CROWES are bringing us a deluxe reissue of their awesome second album, “The Southern Harmony And Musical Companion,” hitting the scene on December 1.
This reissue is like a treasure chest filled with musical goodies. You’ll find some never-before-heard studio recordings, rare B-sides, and even a killer live performance from way back in 1993 at Houston’s Sam Houston Coliseum.
Now, let’s talk formats. You can snag this gem in various ways, including the “super deluxe” four-LP and three-CD box sets. And guess what? They’ve thrown in a reproduction of the original 132-page promotional hymn book with insights from Chris and Rich Robinson. Plus, there’s sheet music for the nine compositions by these talented brothers.
Along with the box, you’ll get your hands on four cool 12″x12″ lithographs from “The Southern Harmony” photo shoots. It’s a visual feast to complement the musical one.
Chris and Rich Robinson, along with album producer George Drakoulias have put their hearts into this project. There are 14 previously unreleased recordings, including studio gems, a live concert, and a never-heard-before live in-studio performance recorded at the end of “The Southern Harmony” session. And don’t forget the B-sides and the original album, all freshly remastered.
Back in 1990, when THE BLACK CROWES burst onto the scene with “Shake Your Money Maker,” their sound was a throwback to the early ’70s rock vibe, not the pop metal or grunge of the day. But man, their songwriting and musical craftsmanship were undeniable.
Their second album, “The Southern Harmony And Musical Companion,” named after a Civil War-era hymnal, dropped in May 1992. It featured killer tracks like “Remedy,” “Thorn In My Pride,” “Sting Me,” “Hotel Illness,” and “My Morning Song.” And they topped the charts in its first week!
This LP has been rocking on, selling more than two million copies in the United States.
Czech it- THE BLACK CROWES are gearing up to support AEROSMITH on their “Peace Out” farewell tour, starting on September 2 in Philadelphia. It’s gonna be a blast!
Joining the Robinson brothers in this new BLACK CROWES lineup are the returning bassist Sven Pipien, Brian Griffin on drums, Joel Robinow on keyboards, and Isaiah Mitchell on guitar. Get ready for some epic rock ‘n’ roll!
