Chris Daughtry has already fulfilled his rock star dream, scoring chart-topping hits and multi-platinum albums. Still, the singer – who is also long time comic book fan – has another goal on his list: appearing in a superhero film.
During a recent conversation with SNSMix, Daughtry admitted he was “always obsessed with superheroes.” “It started with, the Super Powers cartoon, like, in ’84 or something like that,” the rocker recalled, “and then the action figures that followed and I never really grew out of that.”
Still, there was one character that stood out above the rest.
“Batman was my dude,” Daughtry noted. “Batman has always been my favorite, ever since I can remember. So yeah, that has always… That was something that I wanted to do before I even found music, was be a comic book artist, but I never followed through with that.”
Daughtry’s love of superheroes later evolved into a fascination with martial arts and bodybuilders – men he described as having “superhero physiques.” The singer himself maintains a strict fitness regime and is one of the most jacked artists in rock.
As comic book movies have exploded at the box office over the last 20 years, celebrity cameos in MCU and DCU films have become commonplace. Considering Daughtry’s card-carrying fandom, it’s surprising he’s never gotten an offer to appear in a movie. Unsurprisingly, he’d jump at the opportunity if it ever happened.
“We gotta get James Gunn to give me a call, man,” Daughtry remarked with a smile on his face, mentioned the acclaimed director of films like Superman and Guardians of the Galaxy. “Like, I’m sure he’s got a lot of people knocking on his door asking for the same thing. But yeah. I would love that.”
