Motley Crue frontman Vince Neil stopped his solo band’s performance at the Oklahoma State Fair on Saturday due to a shooting incident in close proximity to the fairgrounds.
Neil took to Twitter, sharing his account of the situation: “Last night’s concert in Oklahoma City was quite an eventful one. Three-quarters into the set, chaos ensued as people began to flee. We were instructed to seek shelter in the dressing room due to an ongoing shooting incident. I want to express my gratitude to our fans for their understanding during this unnerving situation.”
He continued, stating, “The authorities have provided some details regarding the shooting at the Oklahoma State Fair. According to Oklahoma City police Lt. Jeff Cooper, a dispute at the Bennett Event Center on the fairgrounds resulted in one individual being shot in the chest. Fortunately, a juvenile is now in custody in connection with the shooting.”
Reports from fairgoers described a scene of panic, with people running and hurriedly leaving the fairgrounds following the gunshots. Witness accounts depicted a stampede-like situation with children in distress amid the confusion.
Cooper emphasized that this incident appeared to be isolated and not indicative of an active shooter situation, reassuring the public regarding safety at the event.
