Florence and the Machine has returned with a powerful new single, “Everybody Scream.”
The propulsive tune bubbles with haunting aggression. Frontwoman Florence Welch is as dynamic as ever, her voice surrounded by wails, driving guitar and pounding drums. The song’s accompanying music video, which you can watch below, echoes themes of power of and possession.
“Everybody Scream” serves as the the title track for Florence and the Machine’s upcoming sixth studio album, due for release on October 31. Welch wrote and produced Everybody Scream over the past two years, working alongside Idles’ Mark Bowen, the National‘s Aaron Dessner, and Mitski. Everybody Scream is available for pre-order now. Various bundles include vinyl, cassette and CD copies, along with an accompanying hardback book.
Florence and the Machine released their last studio album, Dance Fever, in 2022. Welch has also recently appeared on material by other artists, notably contributing to the song “Florida!!!” on Taylor Swift’s The Tortured Poets Department, and “Reflections Laughing” on The Weeknd’s album Hurry Up Tomorrow.
