Jack White has decried Donald Trump’s leadership and interior design choices.
In a post on social media, the White Stripes frontman slammed Trump’s changes to the oval office, which largely consist of gold statues and accessories.
“Look at how disgusting Trump has transformed the historic White House. It’s now a vulgar, gold leafed and gaudy, professional wrestler’s dressing room,” White wrote, his message accompanied by an image of Trump meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. “Can’t wait for the UFC match on the front lawn too, he’s almost fully achieved the movie ‘Idiocracy.’
“Look at his disgusting taste,” White continued, “would you even buy a used car from this conman, let alone give him the nuclear codes?” he continued. “A gold plated trump bible would look perfect up on that mantle with a pair of trump shoes on either side wouldn’t it?”
“What an embarrassment to American history,” White concluded, before lauding Zelenskyy as “a REAL leader.”
White House Calls Jack White a ‘Has-Been Loser’
In response, White House communications director Steven Cheung took aim at White.
“Jack White is a washed up, has-been loser posting drivel on social media because he clearly has ample time on his hands due to his stalled career,” Cheung wrote. “It’s apparent he’s been masquerading as a real artist, because he fails to appreciate, and quite frankly disrespects, the splendor and significance of the Oval Office inside of ‘The People’s House.'”
Regardless of your political affiliations, calling Jack White “washed up” is simply inaccurate. The rocker’s most recent album, No Name, was hailed as one of the best of 2024, spawning several radio hits including “That’s How I’m Feeling,” which hit No. 1 on the alternative chart. He’ll also be inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame later this year.
This isn’t the first time that White has skewered Trump – though it is, interestingly, the first time the White House has ever responded. In precious posts, Jack has called Trump an “egomaniac conman,” a “political idiot” and a “grifting fascist.” He also threatened to sue Trump in 2024 when the politician used the White Stripes “Seven Nation Army” without consent.
