“The song is in line with realizing your own flaws, but coming from the other side than previous single ‘Cannibal Within,’ where you are the one causing a lot of the imbalance,” explains songwriter and vocalist Danny Kiranos (a.k.a. Amigo the Devil).
Accompanying visuals for “The Mechanic” video reveal intimate insights behind the record’s genesis. Created in a basement bar-turned-studio in the middle of Tennessee, the video shows the bare-bones of his recording process – from scribbling lyrics on pages of a journal, to the natural dynamics with songwriting partner and guitarist David Talley, to experimenting with oddball percussion from his homemade recording den. The album’s first single “Cannibal Within” garnered praise from
Consequence for its “disarming, lyrically uncompromising brand of dark folk.” Amigo the Devil embodies the truest form of an artist in his new work.
Yours Until the War is Over is the first studio album by Amigo the Devil that was entirely produced, recorded, and engineered in-house. The collaborative nature of the new recording process shines throughout. Kiranos’ songs serve as cinematic vignettes that thread together stories of the human condition, trauma bonding, and the method of using relationships for survival, whether by addiction, doubt, death, or narcissism.
Yours Until the War is Over is all heart, with no boundaries. It is an album to be experienced from beginning to end in order to recognize the perspective it offers.
