In our corner of the internet, the most anticipated music festival of the year might just be Best Friends Forever, a new Las Vegas event steeped in nostalgia, focusing on second-wave emo—the era just before the genre exploded into mainstream culture. Featuring acts like Bright Eyes, Sunny Day Real Estate, Cap’n Jazz, the Dismemberment Plan, and Unwound, it’s a gathering of post-hardcore and indie rock bands that were grouped under the emo label simply because they didn’t fit neatly elsewhere.
Now, there’s another festival with “Friends” in its name, but it’s tapping into a different vein of emo—the moment when the genre was at its peak in popularity. It might be a less novel approach, but it’s likely to attract a sizable audience. The inaugural All Your Friends Fest has just been announced, set to take place at Burl’s Creek Event Grounds in Oro-Medonte, Ontario on August 23rd and 24th. Headliners include Fall Out Boy and the Canadian sensation Billy Talent, alongside a lineup that embodies the spirit of the “When We Were Young” wave, featuring acts like Jimmy Eat World, Dashboard Confessional, the All-American Rejects, Silverstein, Plain White T’s, Gym Class Heroes, Fefe Dobson, and similar artists.
