Two Members of Sublime Hit the Road to Showcase Side Projects
Jakobs Castle, the solo project from Jakob Nowell known for his role as a member of the newly reunited Sublime, launches on its first headlining tour this summer. Joining Jakobs Castle on the road will be the entire SVN/BVRNT Records crew including Jesse James Pariah, Strange Case and Spray Allen. This marauding band of deranged buccaneers will sow chaos and discord across the lands. You have been warned.
Sublime bassist Eric Wilson is exploring a new musical frontier with his latest project, Spray Allen. The four-piece band features Wilson on bass, Wade Youman (Unwritten Law) on drums, Eric Sherman on guitar, and Daniel Lonner on vocals.
Sublime singer Jakob Nowell continues to carve his own path with Jakobs Castle, blending hyper-pop and coastal vibes while never shying away from his roots. Known for sneaking Sublime classics into his live sets, Nowell’s connection to the band’s legacy runs deep. With both Nowell and Wilson hitting the road simultaneously, fans may witness a once-in-a-generation crossover moment—an onstage collaboration that could make music history.
SVN/BVRNT Brings Fresh Blood
Jakob Nowell has launched a new independent label, SVN/BVRNT, in collaboration with Jakobs Castle guitarist Zane Vandevort. Now, Jakob Nowell continues to shape his own musical path by founding SVN/BVRNT, a label inspired by his and Vandevort’s Southern California roots and the spirit of iconic underground SoCal brands like Skunk Records and SRH Clothing. SVN/BVRNT embraces the DIY ethos of the ’90s and early 2000s, blending nostalgia with a fresh take on California’s cultural soundscape. SVN/BVRNT is not just a label but a creative community—a collective of artists, misfits, and visionaries united by a love of music, art, and fashion. Distribution will be handled through Regime Music Group/Symphonic.
Jesse James Pariah, the surfer singer-songwriter and Slum Beach Posse member, has officially joined the roster of SVN/BVRNT Records/Regime Music Group, the new independent label founded by Jakob Nowell (Sublime, Jakobs Castle) and guitarist Zane Vandevort. With his signing, Jesse has released his brand-new single “Horns Under Halo” produced by DENM across all digital platforms.
Strange Case, the first official signing to SVN/BVRNT, has been creating a buzz across Southern California’s music scene for years. Founded by high school friends Zane Vandevort and Mikey Netka, the band blends the reverberated guitar tones of 1960s surf rock with mesmerizing vocal hooks and harmonies, crafting a fresh and distinctive spin on the iconic California sound. Their music has drawn comparisons to influential acts like The Frights, solidifying their reputation as a rising force in the local rock scene. Strange Case’s previous single, “27 Club,” has already made waves, earning airplay on Los Angeles’ legendary radio station 106.7 KROQ and amassing over 1.6 million streams on Spotify. As Strange Case continues to gain momentum, “Redline” marks a new chapter for both the band and the SVN/BVRNT label.

Jakobs Castle represents an unfiltered version of Nowell’s own sonic identity. Recorded in San Pedro, CA with producer and co-collaborator Jon Joseph (Børns, Caroline Rose), ENTER: THE CASTLE is Jakob’s modern expression of SoCal-born alternative rock. The album is an experiment to mix California’s past with the mysteries of underground internet culture – forging his own destiny in a way that’s relevant to today’s generation of listeners.
As the only child of the late Bradley Nowell of Sublime, one of the most influential bands of the 90s, Jakob Nowell’s life was anything but charmed. After losing his father as a baby and growing up in an unstable household, he felt mostly alone throughout his early life and faced struggles with addiction as a young adult. He credits discovering escapism in art, aided by the exploration of the internet’s bubbling subcultures, as tools to find his community.
“Jakobs Castle is my way of sending out my own weak single into the void. If even one other alien picks up on the references and feels a connection, my work is complete.”
