Dropout Kings Frontman Adam Ramey Has Passed Away

Adam Ramey, the co-frontman for trap-metal genre benders Dropout Kings, has tragically passed away. The band announced his passing via their social media this morning.

In a statement the band wrote, “With the heaviest hearts, we share that our brother, Adam Ramey has passed away. His passion, energy, and love for music shaped Dropout Kings and touched countless lives. We’re devastated to say the least, but Adam’s spirit, charisma and energy will not only forever inspire us, but will push us into the future to be the best that we can.”

Ramey founded Dropout Kings with rapper Eddie Wellz under the moniker Phoenix Down in 2016, before changing their name to Dropout Kings and signing with Napalm Records for the release of their 2018 debut album “AudioDope“.

In 2021 Dropout Kings signed with Suburban Noize Records to release their “GlitchGang” EP, which produced the single “Virus” that hit the top 40 on the Billboard Mainstream Rock Radio Charts for 12 weeks, peaking at #33. The band toured relentlessly in support of their two releases with the label – 2021’s GlitchGang and 2023’s “Riot Music” – including tours with ILL NINO, Wargasm, The Browning, (Hed) P.E, Nonpoint, and more. They played countless radio festivals such as KIWR 89.7’s “The River’s End of Summer Bash” with an impressive lineup that included Machine Gun Kelly, WJRR’s “EarthDay Birthday” with Shinedown, and many others.

Dropout Kings final releases under the label were joint EP titled “The Last Ones Standing“, which saw them collaborating with DJ Lethal from Limp Bizkit/House of Pain, Crazy Town, and fellow rap-turned-rockers Twiztid. The latest with Adam and Dropout Kings was a tribute song to Dragon Ball and Dragon Ball Z creator Akira Toriyama entitled “Toriyama”. The band had been working on new material for an upcoming release later this year.

The entire Skratch N’ Sniff team was saddened to hear of his tragic passing, as we had a strong relationship with Adam and Dropout Kings. Our hearts go out to Adam’s wife and son, as well as the members of Dropout Kings, his family, and friends. Rest in peace brother.

A GoFundMe has been set up to help support Adam’s wife Jamie, and their 18-month-old son, Jude online HERE.
