Watch: John C. Reilly Is Jack White’s ‘Archbishop Harold Holmes’ in New Video

Jack White has recruited one of Hollywood’s most beloved character actors for his latest music video.

John C. Reilly – known for films like Step Brothers, Talladega Nights and Walk Hard – embodies the titular character for White’s latest single, “Archbishop Harold Holmes.” The tune tells the story of a preacher who seems a little too good to be true, offering salvation and spiritual awakening for a nominal fee.

Set is a southern church and backed by a neon cross, the music video finds Reilly as Holmes passionately preaching to his congregation as flashes of blue lightning emanate from his hands and body.

Reportedly Reilly reached out to White directly expressing his interest in playing Holmes. The track was one of the highlights of the rocker’s 2024 album No Name, which he surprise-released last summer.

Meanwhile, Reilly just released his own album, What’s Not to Love, under an alter ego known as Mr. Romantic. The actor has a musical history, having appeared in the film Chicago. He’s also collaborated with White in the past – recording and releasing two songs alongside the rocker in 2011. Reilly previously appeared in music videos for Beastie Boys, Jon Spencer Blues Explosion and Lil Dickey.

White will be inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of fame later this year as one half of The White Stripes (the duo has not yet confirmed if they will perform at the event). The acclaimed musician also has a handful of festivals appearances scheduled, including Bourbon and Beyond in Louisville, Riot Fest in Chicago and New York’s CBGB Festival.
