Muse have never been a band for half-measures. Their new single, “Unravelling,” dropped online with the kind of cinematic scope and operatic urgency that feels born from the eye of a storm — or at least a stadium packed with tens of thousands. It’s the first fresh music from the trio since their dystopian 2022 album Will of the People.
Produced by Dan Lancaster — the sonic architect known for his work with Bring Me The Horizon, and now a member of Muse’s live lineup since 2022 — “Unravelling” is both a return to form and a restless evolution. There’s a visceral immediacy here, a live-wire energy that mirrors the band’s recent festival sets where the song has already been road-tested to explosive response. Matt Bellamy’s voice surges over a bed of distorted synths and sharp-edged guitars, pulling apocalyptic paranoia into something undeniably anthemic.
Prior to the single’s release, Muse released a series of teasers for “Unravelling” — sparked online excitement among their fans. The band debuted the song during anintimate warm-up show at the House of Culture in Helsinki. It then received a rapturous reception when it was introduced to a 50,000-strong audience during their headline set at Finland’s Rockfest, June 14, 2025. Muse will continue touring throughout the summer, including stops at several major European festivals.
