Queens of the Stone Age have announced a special run of U.S. shows in support of their recently-released live album and concert film, Alive in the Catacombs.
The performance, recorded in the famed tombs located under the streets of Paris, was historical in many ways. Not only was this the first time a rock band was allowed to perform in the Catacombs, but it marked both the smallest and largest audience in Queens of the Stone Age’s career; more than a million people were there for the performance, but all of them were dead.
Inspired by the unique experience, QOTSA will launch The Catacombs Tour this fall. The limited series of very special one-night-only evenings will take place at some of North America’s most historic theaters.
The band rearranged their material during the Catacombs performance, and they’ll bring these new versions of their tunes to the U.S. tour. Expected a string section, further instrumentation and acoustic reimaginings of classic QOTSA tracks. The tour stops will also be some of the most intimate affairs of the band’s career.
Tickets for Queens of the Stone Age The Catacombs Tour will be on sale at qotsa.com beginning June 27th at 10am local time. A press release notes that “Appropriate dress is encouraged — you’ll want to look as good as the music is going to sound on this very special evening at the theater.”
A full list of North American tour dates can be found below. The Catacombs Tour is expected to stretch into the UK and Europe at a later date.
