Deftones fans, it’s time to get excited. The band has given the strangest hint yet that new music is coming soon.
Before and after the band’s June 29 concert at London’s Crystal Palace Park, Deftones put a graphic on their video big screens that featured the Roman numerals “X.VII.MMXXV” along with mentions of new music. Naturally, followers on Reddit and social media all seem to believe that a new song will drop on July 10.
The image shown on the screens featured the phrase “private music,” assumed to be the title of a song or album. A similar symbol to the one seen at the London concert can now be found on Deftones’ website.
The band’s last album, Ohms, was released in 2020. The musicians have previously admitted they were working on new music, without any indication of when it would arrive.
Frontman Chino Moreno previously told Billboard Español that Deftones’ next album was “getting very close to being ready” prior to the band’s spring tour, however no new material was performed during that run. Maybe fans will have their wish come true during the next North American leg. After finishing up in Europe, Deftones will return for another trek across America, starting August 22.
