Watch Evanescence’s New Music Video for K. Flay Collaboration ‘Fight Like a Girl’

Evanescence has unveiled the music video for “Fight Like a Girl,” their recent collaboration with singer-songwriter K Flay.

The heavy-hitting track was recorded for the film Ballerina. Set within the world of John Wick, the action flick stars Ana de Armas and was directed by Lynn Wiseman. Meanwhile, composer Tyler Bates recruited Amy Lee for the project, which eventually evolved into a collaboration with the full band.

Evanescence were heavily involved in the movie’s soundtrack, including previous releases “Afterlife” and “Hand That Feeds” (featuring Halsey). “Fight Like a Girl” is a proudly defiant feminist anthem, themes which led Lee to think of K. Flay.

“Tyler calling me up to create this song for ‘Ballerina’ couldn’t have come at a more perfect time, I know I’m not the only girl out there ready to dig my heels in and show the world what we’re made of,” Lee explained. “I really wanted this song to be a collab, and K.Flay is one of my favorite artists. It is literally a dream come true to do this together!”

“Amy sent me the demo and I was immediately so energized, so inspired,” added K.Flay. “I was on tour at the time, and I wrote my verse backstage after a show, when my adrenaline was still super high. For me, the film and the song are both about how we channel our pain and how we choose to define ourselves. What separates the hero from the villain?”

The music video — which you can watch bellow — features plenty of John Wick-style action. Evanescence and K.Flay are seen performing in a an ominous world that echos the visuals of Ballerina. Lee and K Flay wander empty streets, pace through dark rooms and take an ominous looking elevator ride to a warehouse where they find the rest of the band. As the song builds to its emphatic climax, the room catches fire and rain comes pouring down.

Evanescence will hit the road for a run of performances this fall, including a show with My Chemical Romance, a stop on the Louder Than Life festival, and an extended trek with Metallica.
