Freaking Out A Bit

Goldfinger Recruits Mark Hoppus and Travis Barker from Blink-182 for ‘Freaking Out a Bit’

John Feldmann isn’t exactly the kind of guy who slows down, even when everything’s spinning. On “Freaking Out a Bit,” the new single from Goldfinger featuring Blink-182’s Mark Hoppus and Travis Barker, the hyperactive frontman-producer unleashes a sugar-rush anthem for every overthinking mind baked in the glow of blue-light doomscrolling.

“‘Freaking Out a Bit’ is a song I wrote with Travis Barker and Mark Hoppus… I had the concept for a song and a chorus, and they came in and brought it to life. Mark wrote the best verses, and Travis turned the beat around in the bridge, which gave it a whole new life of its own. Those guys are some of my best friends and I love them. So grateful I got to do this song with them I’m so glad it’s finally coming out,” Feldmann explained.

Out now via Big Noise, the track plays like a heart attack wrapped in a melody. It’s an adrenalized blast of pop-punk catharsis, riding a wave of anthemic hooks, power chords, and jittery self-awareness. And with Hoppus jumping in on vocals, it becomes something of a spiritual sequel to Blink-182’s California era—a reminder that Feldmann and Hoppus remain one of the genre’s most quietly lethal duos.

Thematically, the song hits that perfectly 2020s nerve—digital overload, inner chaos, and the search for something real in a world of curated dopamine hits.

Goldfinger, of course, isn’t new to existential anthems disguised as party songs. Since the ska-punk explosion of the mid-‘90s, they’ve been delivering hyper-charged soundtracks for skate parks and emotional crises alike. Tracks like “Superman” and their cover of “99 Red Balloons” carved out a space where brassy chaos met singalong sincerity. Nearly three decades in, “Freaking Out a Bit” proves they haven’t lost a step—or a shred of their melodic anxiety.

It’s summer panic, set to a pop-punk beat. And somehow, it feels exactly right.
