Slipknot Announce Anniversary Box Set of Debut Album and Release Demo of ‘Prosthetics’

When Slipknot exploded onto the scene in 1999, they didn’t just make noise—they detonated expectations. Now, 25 years later, the Iowa nine are digging up the roots of that chaotic beginning with a ferocious anniversary edition of their self-titled debut. It’s more than a reissue—it’s a blood-soaked time capsule, sealed in fury and myth.

The limited 25th anniversary box set, unveiled with little warning on July 21, was a stunning piece of theater: just 100 copies of a six-LP “blood-filled” vinyl edition, each one a gory homage to the band’s visceral aesthetic. It sold out almost instantly, causing a frenzy among diehards and collectors alike. Slipknot has since promised a second drop of nearly 2,000 copies, due September 5, alongside a wider reissue across digital, CD, and standard vinyl formats.

But this isn’t just about packaging. The set contains 59 tracks, including 39 previously unreleased cuts, live recordings, early demos, alternate mixes, and a chilling, sludge-drenched version of “Prosthetics” from the original Indigo Ranch sessions, which can be heard below. It’s raw, it’s menacing, and it’s a rare glimpse into a band sharpening its claws before tearing through the metal landscape.

As usual, percussionist and visual mastermind Shawn “Clown” Crahan is at the helm, curating every scratch of tape and shadowy photo into a release that feels more like a ritual offering than a commercial product. For a band that has always blurred the line between performance and possession, this 25th anniversary reissue isn’t just about where they came from—it’s about reminding the world that Slipknot never stopped haunting the underground. The masks may shift, the lineup may evolve, but that original scream? It’s still echoing, louder than ever.
