A new song by MGK – who apparently no longer goes by Machine Gun Kelly – has been tabbed as ESPN’s College Football anthem for 2025.
The singer himself revealed the news during an appearance on The Pat McAfee Show. MGK also revealed that he briefly played football and was a tight end, before embarrassingly mixing up his words. “I scored one football,” the rocker noted, almost immediately garnering mocks from McAfee and his crew. “One touchdown!” MGK corrected, laughing. “Oh my god. ‘One football’ is crazy.”
Sports slip ups aside, fans can expect to hear MGK’s “Don’t Wait Run Fast” during plenty of ESPN broadcasts this season. The hard-hitting rock tune comes from MGK’s upcoming album, Lost Americana.
This is the 12th season that ESPN has collaborated with an artist for an official soundtrack to their college football coverage. Previous artists include Jelly Roll, Post Malone, Juice WRLD, Marshmello and Fall Out Boy.
“Music and college football have been intertwined for years, and our ESPN College Football anthem ushers in that first spark of the season,” Curtis Friends, ESPN VP of marketing, said in a statement. “This 12th iteration, MGK brings a passionate, high-voltage sound that mirrors the raw emotion and untamed spirit of college football.”

Lost Americana, the seventh studio album of MGK’s career, arrives on August 8. The singer will be performing at Warped Tour in Orlando and the F1 Las Vegas Grand Prix, both taking place in November. Meanwhile, college football coverage kicks off Aug. 23 on all of ESPN’s platforms and ABC.
