The Pretty Reckless have released their first new song in four years, “For I Am Death.”
“For I Am Death cam from a place of quiet devastation,” frontwoman Taylor Momsen explained via press release. “After experiencing so much loss, I needed to make sense of the weight I was carrying. So I personified Death itself.”
“The meaning of the song is up to the interpretation of the listener,” she continued. “It was less about writing something for others and more about trying to process what was left behind.”
“For I Am Death” (which you can hear below) is a heavy-hitting track, propelled by powerful riffs. Hearing the band in excellent form will certainly be exciting for The Pretty Reckless’ fans, who have been eagerly waiting for new music for quite some time. Though the band has been touring – including a notable opening slot on AC/DC’s recent North American tour – they haven’t released new material since 2021’s Death by Rock and Roll.
To that end, Momsen added the following update:
“[‘For I Am Death’] is the just first song in a rollercoaster of creativity that I cannot wait for the world to hear.”
