Jakob Nowell Says Show With Noah Weiland Will Be ‘Very Special and Honorable’

Jakob Nowell will be performing at a special concert on December 3, opening for Noah Weiland.

The concert will mark the 10th anniversary of legendary Stone Temple Pilots frontman, Scott Weiland. In a conversation with The Pier, Jakob – who, like Noah, lost his famous rock star father at a very young age – explained why participating in the show was an easy decision.

“[Noah] and I, I think relate with each other in a very unique level given to our circumstances and stuff,” Jakob explained in a recent interview with ThePier.org. “Rest in peace to both of our fathers.”

“When he asked me to do it I said ‘Of course,'” Jakob affirmed. “I just wanna help the fella out. And he’s a really deep artistic sensitive little fella. And I love him very much. And I think it’s gonna be a special day.”

Noah has been focused on his own music in recent years and has only sporadically covered his father’s material. The Dec. 3 show will offer the rare chance to see him performing a full set of Stone Temple Pilots music.

“I think what he’s doing that day is very special and honorable to… To honor the legacy of his dad and play an STP set like that,” Jakob continued.

Noah – who Jakob describes as “talented as shit” – previously admitted that the idea for the concert came during a session with his old therapist.

“I didn’t even realize it was about to be 10 years until he brought it up,” the younger Weiland explained to Rolling Stone. “My brain started cooking ideas up instantly.”

The performance will take place at the Garden Amp outdoor amphitheater in Orange County. Tickets are on sale now.
