Recorded at Red Lion Studios in Orlando with producer Gustavo Porras, the new EP captures the exact kind of barely-contained energy that has turned Codefendants into one of the most disruptive forces merging punk and hip-hop today. The session was tracked shortly after one of their Florida shows last year—then filmed with a full multi-camera setup to bottle their live volatility in a studio environment.
For Ceschi Ramos, bringing ZETA into the fold was a no-brainer:
“When we started Codefendants—it was really a recording project at first—we needed to build a live set. Zeta was the first band I reached out to because they’re one of my favorite live bands, period. We wanted to capture that live experience in the studio. After a show in Florida, we went to Red Lion Studios and did an in-studio session with them that captured the sound of what we’d been doing live.”
The video for “Counting Back From 13,” directed by Digital Cipher, channels the sweaty, communal mania of a Codefendants show—raw, intimate, and sharp-edged enough to leave a mark.
Since detonating onto the scene with their 2023 debut, This Is Crime Wave, the Codefendants have carved out their own lane at the intersection of punk urgency, hip-hop storytelling, and social commentary. Their fanbase has only grown more rabid as they’ve toured relentlessly, collaborated widely, and continued to push their sound further into the unknown.
With Live From Red Lion Studio now out in the world, the trio confirms they’re deep into work on their next full-length album—produced entirely by Fat Mike and slated for Spring 2026. If history is any indicator, expect another sharp left turn.
