Memphis alt-rock mischief-makers Joybomb are back with a full-color freakout of a single. Their new track and video, “Everything Is Drugs,” out today, takes a sharp, satirical hit off America’s endless appetite for stimulation — from politics and social media to the everyday dopamine traps we scroll past without thinking twice.
Frontman Grant Beatty lays it out bluntly: “God, guns, & country—drugs. Social confirmation bias, rage-baiting, MAGA, and those hearts on your Instagram story? All intoxicants.” He’s not wrong. Joybomb deliver this critique with their usual wiry riff-work and frantic rhythmic punch, turning modern burnout into something you can scream along to.
The visuals keep the high going. Longtime collaborator Quinton Hickman created the video entirely using a flatbed scanner, warping everyday objects into glitchy, jittery fragments. Scans were repeated until the items stretched and tore apart — a physical echo of the addictive loops the song digs into.
“Everything Is Drugs” follows the band’s recent singles “Stigmata Palms” and “I, Paparazzi,” continuing their pivot toward more pointed social commentary without ditching the self-aware humor and emotional weight fans know from their Modern Scripture EP.
The track also marks the third release featuring Joybomb’s updated lineup, now with Luki Luvsik joining on guitar alongside Beatty, Conner Booth, and Xander Sinclair. Returning engineer Matt Qualls once again handles engineering, mixing, and mastering — keeping the chaos sharp and the edges serrated.
Expect more from Joybomb in 2026. For now, dive into the new single and buckle up: in Joybomb’s world, everything’s a drug, and everyone’s hooked.
