Staind Announce Break The Cycle 25th Anniversary Tour With Seether, Hoobastank, and Hinder

In the early 2000s, heavy rock found a new center of gravity, less about bravado, more about fracture and dirt, building off the earlier grunge era of the 90’s. When Staind released Break The Cycle in 2001, it landed squarely in that moment, pairing post-grunge weight with a stark emotional directness that pushed rock radio toward vulnerability without sanding down its edges.

Now, 25 years later, Staind are returning to that record with intent. The band has announced the Break The Cycle 25th Anniversary Tour, a major North American run that brings Seether as direct support, with Hoobastank and Hinder rotating as special guests. Produced by Live Nation, the tour launches in September and stretches across amphitheaters and arenas throughout the U.S. and Canada, wrapping in Dallas.

Break The Cycle wasn’t just commercially successful, it reshaped the emotional vocabulary of mainstream rock. Anchored by the song “It’s Been Awhile,” a song that refused metaphor in favor of confession, the album spent weeks atop modern rock radio and eventually went five-times platinum. Its success wasn’t built on excess but restraint: quiet verses, controlled tension, and choruses that hit harder because they felt lived-in rather than theatrical.

That sensibility still defines Staind’s place in the rock canon. Vocalist Aaron Lewis’ songwriting leaned inward at a time when most radio-ready heavy bands leaned outward, while guitarist Mike Mushok’s down-tuned riffs created space rather than filling every corner. The result was an album that crossed formats without losing its identity—an increasingly rare feat in the post-Napster era.

The anniversary tour also arrives at a moment of renewed momentum. Staind’s 2023 comeback album Confessions Of The Fallen topped Billboard’s Active Rock Albums chart, reaffirming the band’s relevance beyond nostalgia. Rather than treating Break The Cycle as a museum piece, the tour frames it as a living document—one that still resonates in a rock landscape once again grappling with honesty, burnout, and emotional collapse.
