Over 50 Bands Join Green Day Tribute Compilation Benefiting Animal Shelters

More than 50 bands have contributed to a new charity compilation series titled A Tribute to Green Day, with 100 percent of proceeds benefiting two no kill animal shelters.

The project, organized by Punk Rock Radar and Coffin Curse Records, features 59 tracks across two volumes pressed on limited edition colored vinyl capped at 1,000 copies. Volume 1 features artwork inspired by Green Day’s 1994 breakthrough album Dookie, while Volume 2 takes visual cues from 1995’s Insomniac.

All proceeds will go to Young Williams Animal Center in Knoxville, Tennessee, and CARE of DC in Wappingers Falls, New York. Preorders began March 2.

Contributors include Audio Karate, Krang, American Television, Jukebox Romantics, Ballyhoo, Rabies, Virginity, Fight Back Mountain and dozens more covering songs spanning Green Day’s catalog from early Lookout era material through American Idiot and beyond.

The tribute underscores a long standing connection between punk communities and grassroots fundraising efforts, and it aligns with Green Day’s own history of charitable engagement.

Green Day have long been outspoken about political issues. Their 2004 album American Idiot was widely interpreted as a critique of the George W. Bush administration and post 9/11 American nationalism, earning Grammy Awards and solidifying the band’s political identity.

In recent years, frontman Billie Joe Armstrong has continued to use the stage as a platform for political commentary. During live performances and public appearances, Armstrong has criticized anti immigration policies and voiced support for immigrant communities. The band has also participated in benefit concerts and voter mobilization campaigns, including appearances at events tied to Rock the Vote and other civic engagement initiatives.

Green Day have also supported charitable causes beyond politics. Over the years, they have participated in benefit concerts for organizations such as the American Red Cross and have supported environmental and humanitarian initiatives through touring partnerships and nonprofit collaborations.

The new tribute compilation reflects that same spirit of community involvement, channeling punk energy into direct financial support for animal welfare organizations.

While Green Day themselves are not directly involved in the compilation’s creation, the project serves as both a celebration of their catalog and an extension of the socially engaged ethos that has defined much of their career.

Limited vinyl copies of A Tribute to Green Day Volumes 1 and 2 are available now through Punk Rock Radar and Coffin Curse Records.
