Kim Gordon Shares “Play Me” Title Track and Announces 2026 North American and European Tour

Kim Gordon has released the title track from her upcoming solo album Play Me along with a new music video directed by filmmaker Barney Clay. The song arrives just days ahead of the record’s official release on March 13, 2026, marking the third solo album from the influential Sonic Youth co-founder.

The video for “Play Me” unfolds inside a chaotic shopping mall environment filled with blurred and censored faces. The imagery reflects themes Gordon has described around technocratic power and modern surveillance culture, ideas that run throughout the upcoming album.

Play Me follows Gordon’s previous solo releases No Home Record (2019) and The Collective (2024), both of which pushed her sound into heavier industrial, electronic, and noise driven territory while maintaining the experimental spirit that defined her decades with Sonic Youth.

To coincide with the album’s release, Gordon has also announced an extensive 2026 tour spanning North America and Europe. The run begins April 2 in Los Angeles before heading across Europe for a series of festival appearances and headline dates. A second North American leg follows in June and July with stops in major cities across the Midwest and West Coast.

Gordon’s solo work has increasingly explored a hybrid space between experimental rock, industrial noise, hip hop influenced beats, and electronic textures. While her legacy remains deeply tied to Sonic Youth’s role in shaping alternative and noise rock from the 1980s through the 2000s, her recent solo albums have introduced her to a new generation of listeners within the experimental and underground rock scenes.
