Violet Grohl Announces Debut Album Be Sweet To Me, Shares New Single “595”

Violet Grohl has officially announced her debut album. The 11-track Be Sweet To Me is set for release May 29 via Auroura Records/Republic Records, marking the first full-length project from the 19-year-old singer-songwriter and daughter of Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl.

The announcement arrived alongside “595,” the latest single from the album. The gritty alt-rock track is inspired by a vintage T-shirt advertising a phone sex hotline, using the imagery to explore themes of power, loneliness, and the commercialization of desire.

Directed by Nikki Milan Houston, the video for “595” unfolds inside the backseat of a taxi as Grohl watches a rotating group of passengers—from a heartbroken rider to a biker—while the driver struggles to manage the increasingly chaotic situation.

Be Sweet To Me was recorded between late 2024 and early 2025 at producer Justin Raisen’s Los Angeles home studio. Raisen, known for work with artists including Charli XCX and Kim Gordon, assembled a group of musicians to record the album in a collaborative format inspired by the legendary Wrecking Crew session players who contributed to countless recordings throughout the 1960s and ’70s.

Grohl has described the project as deeply shaped by film and visual storytelling, citing the influence of filmmaker David Lynch. That influence is particularly present in the song “What’s Heaven Without You,” which was inspired by Lynch’s work and written following the devastating Los Angeles wildfires in 2025.

Musically, Grohl has pointed to a wide range of influences spanning the alternative and indie landscape, including artists such as Pixies, Soundgarden, Cocteau Twins, PJ Harvey, The Breeders, Björk, Alice in Chains, and L7. The result is a debut that blends grunge-leaning guitars with dreamlike atmospheres and impressionistic songwriting.

The album announcement follows a significant early milestone for Grohl. Her debut single “THUM” recently reached No. 38 on Billboard’s Adult Alternative Airplay chart, marking her first appearance on a Billboard chart.
