Canadian indie collective Broken Social Scene continue the rollout for their upcoming album Remember The Humans, sharing the new single “Hey Amanda.” The track marks the second preview of the band’s first studio record in nearly nine years, due May 8 via Arts & Crafts.
The new album follows 2017’s Hug Of Thunder and reunites the Toronto collective with longtime collaborator producer David Newfeld, who previously helmed the band’s landmark releases You Forgot It In People (2002) and their 2005 self-titled album. The record also features contributions from Feist, Lisa Lobsinger, Hannah Georgas, and other members of the extended Broken Social Scene musical family.
According to the band, “Hey Amanda” captures the spirit of youthful rebellion while leaning into the layered, communal songwriting that has long defined Broken Social Scene’s sound. In a statement accompanying the release, the group described the song as “about being yourself, and how people will always question that.”
The single follows the album’s lead preview “Not Around Anymore,” which introduced the themes behind Remember The Humans. The upcoming record explores feelings of overwhelm, disconnection, and reflection in modern life, while also emphasizing the power of human connection and creativity.
Alongside the new music, Broken Social Scene have also announced a North American summer tour behind the album. The run will feature Metric as co-headliners with Stars opening, beginning June 8 in Austin, Texas, and including stops across major markets such as Dallas, Denver, Salt Lake City, and Los Angeles, where the tour will hit the Greek Theatre on June 16.
Tickets for the tour are on sale now, with additional shows already added in Brooklyn and San Francisco due to early demand.
With Remember The Humans arriving this spring and a major tour on deck, Broken Social Scene are entering their first full album cycle in nearly a decade, signaling a major new chapter for the beloved indie collective.
