Another weekend, another stacked round of mixes from Skratch N Sniff, as the nationally syndicated rock and alternative show delivered a heavy blend of throwbacks, remixes, and new releases across its May 2 broadcast. Both Rock Mix #1212 and Alternative Mix #696 are now live on SoundCloud, alongside a special Fat Mike mini mix that taps straight into punk history.
The Rock Mix leaned hard into high energy nostalgia while keeping things fresh with modern edits. Early segments jumped from Machine Gun Kelly and Fred Durst’s “Fix Ur Face” into remix flips of Linkin Park, Papa Roach, and Three Days Grace. That mix of familiar hooks with electronic production continues to define the Skratch N Sniff format, bridging generations of rock fans.
From there, the show moved through heavier territory with KoRn, Wage War, and Architects, before diving into a strong run of alternative classics reworked for a modern audience. Highlights included remix treatments of Soundgarden and Nirvana, alongside newer cuts like Turnstile and Beartooth.
One of the most impactful moments of the mix came in Segment 4, which doubled as the Fat Mike mini mix. Featuring a run of punk staples from NOFX, Rancid, Bad Religion, Pennywise, and Rise Against, the segment served as both a tribute and a reminder of the genre’s lasting influence. Anchored by NOFX cuts like “Leave It Alone” and “40 Years Of F’ing Up,” the mini mix celebrates the legacy of Fat Mike while fitting seamlessly into the broader rock format.
The Alternative Mix #696 balanced things out with a more melodic and indie leaning selection. Early highlights included remix flips of Empire of the Sun and No Doubt, alongside newer crossover acts like Arkells and Grouplove. The mix continued to blur genre lines, moving from alt-J into pop leaning cuts and back into indie rock staples.
Segment 4 mirrored the rock show’s punk heavy run, reinforcing Skratch N Sniff’s ability to unify its programming across formats. Meanwhile, Segment 5 spotlighted this week’s The Pier Song of the Week, “Pockets Full of Sand” from The Elovaters and Bryce Vine, bringing a breezy, summer ready energy into the mix.
By the final segment, the show returned to a more atmospheric lane with cuts from Death Cab for Cutie, Arctic Monkeys, and Bad Omens, closing things out with a blend of emotion and intensity.
Both mixes, along with the Fat Mike mini mix, are now available to stream on SoundCloud. Fans can also check out SoundCloud for replays and head to Skratch N Sniff affiliates nationwide to catch the show live each weekend.
