Skratch N’ Sniff Radio returned for the weekend of August 1 with two more genre-bending shows built around exclusive remixes, alternative favorites, heavy rock staples and a steady stream of new music.
Alternative Mix #709 moves between indie, electronic, reggae-rock and modern alternative, while Rock Mix #1225 turns up the intensity with Metallica, Black Sabbath, Evanescence, Deftones, Rage Against the Machine and more. Both six-segment shows are now available through the Skratch N’ Sniff archive at soundcloud.com/snsmix.

Alternative Mix #709
This week’s Alternative Mix opens with a remix-heavy first segment featuring Fairlane’s reworking of Imagine Dragons’ “Believer,” Lumix’s take on Beach Weather’s “Sex, Drugs, Etc.” and a Colony House remix of Little Image’s “Out of My Mind.” New music from In Color and Bad Press helps establish the show’s balance between recognizable songs and emerging artists.
The second segment continues that approach with remixes of Empire of the Sun’s “Walking on a Dream” and No Doubt’s “Don’t Speak,” alongside “Deathwish” from The Haunted Youth and “Crash First,” the collaboration between honestav and mgk.
Later in the show, Muse’s “Starlight” receives a Blue Collar remix before Slightly Stoopid and G. Love bring their laid-back collaboration “Back Seat Drivin’” into the mix. Glass Animals, The Maine and Death Cab for Cutie round out the segment, moving from club-ready reworks into the atmospheric new single “Riptides.”
The centerpiece of Alternative Mix #709 is Surfer Girl’s “Slow Motion,” this week’s ThePier.org Song of the Week.
Led by former Aer vocalist Carter Reeves Schultz, the Los Angeles by-way-of Boston group continues to blend indie pop, alternative music and reggae-rock. “Slow Motion” is the third single from Surfer Girl’s upcoming album, Midnight, arriving August 21 through Ineffable Records.
The new album follows the group’s 2025 release Sunset, which featured collaborations with Collie Buddz, Bryce Vine, Bobby Alu and more. Surfer Girl is also supporting the new music on the 15-date headlining Skydiving Tour.
“Slow Motion” appears in a fourth segment that also includes remixes of Foster the People’s “Pumped Up Kicks,” Dominic Fike’s “Babydoll” and Tame Impala’s “Breathe Deeper,” plus “Pariah” from Jesse James Pariah.
The final stretch of the Alternative Mix features M83, Milky Chance, Strange Case, The Unlikely Candidates and Cage the Elephant before closing with Kings of Leon, Bob Moses, Temper City, Ecca Vandal and a Brazza Squad remix of The Black Keys’ “Tighten Up.”
Rock Mix #1225
Rock Mix #1225 begins with Teddy Cream’s remix of Metallica’s “Enter Sandman,” followed by Ninth Key’s “Happy Feels Like,” a Neotek remix of Foo Fighters’ “Everlong” and a Pharaoh rework of Breaking Benjamin’s “Had Enough.” Marilyn Manson’s “Exit Wound” closes the opening segment.
The second block moves through Evanescence, Falling in Reverse and Pop Evil remixes while also introducing new tracks from Unpeople and Papa Roach. “See You in Hell,” Papa Roach’s collaboration with Hanumankind, brings together the band’s rap-rock foundation with a contemporary crossover edge.
Aerosmith’s “Dream On” receives a GRiZ remix to begin the third segment, which also features Letdown., Puddle of Mudd, Thirty Seconds to Mars and Architects. The show then gets heavier with Black Sabbath’s “Paranoid,” From Ashes to New’s “Die for You,” Bring Me the Horizon’s “Parasite Eve” and a Luke Lethal remix of Deftones’ “Change (In the House of Flies).”
The fifth segment brings together Disturbed, Autumn Kings, Powerman 5000, Buckcherry and Fozzy before the final block opens with a Plan B remix of Rage Against the Machine’s “Guerrilla Radio.”
Cage the Elephant’s “Beaches in Tennessee” crosses over from the Alternative Mix, while remixes of Creed’s “Higher” and Kid Rock’s “Bawitdaba” lead into the closing track, “Lost Soul” from The Hu featuring Jonny Hawkins of Nothing More.
From indie-pop and reggae-rock to metal, hard rock and electronic remixes, this week’s shows capture the wide-ranging sound that has defined Skratch N’ Sniff Radio.
