Skratch N Sniff Recap: Surfer Girl Leads Alternative Mix #718 While Tom Morello, Falling In Reverse & More Hit Rock Mix #1234

Skratch N Sniff returned for the weekend of October 3, 2026 with two more genre-blurring shows, pairing new alternative and hard rock releases with the remixes, mashups and throwbacks that define SNS each week.

Alternative Mix #718 featured new music from CHVRCHES, Codefendants, Fontaines D.C., Sublime, LEAP, Dead Poet Society and more, while Surfer Girl’s “Easy Tiger” with Dylan Cotrone took the spotlight as ThePier.org Song of the Week.

Over on Rock Mix #1234, the heavier side of SNS brought together Tom Morello and Kneecap, Architects, Beartooth, Five Finger Death Punch, From Ashes To New, Marilyn Manson and Fozzy alongside remixed staples from Disturbed, Korn, Metallica, Linkin Park, Nirvana and Slipknot.

Alternative Mix #718

Alternative Mix #718 opened by jumping between generations of alternative music. New Found Glory’s “My Friends Over You” kicked off Segment 1 before Skratch N Sniff flipped Twenty One Pilots’ “Tear In My Heart” through the Soy Sauce Remix and All Time Low’s “Dear Maria, Count Me In” through STVW’s remix. New music from CHVRCHES and Codefendants rounded out the opening run.

The genre collisions continued throughout the show. The Beastie Boys’ “Sabotage,” Muse’s “Supermassive Black Hole,” No Doubt’s “Hella Good,” Beck’s “Loser,” Vampire Weekend’s “A-Punk” and Two Door Cinema Club’s “What You Know” all received remix treatments, while new cuts from The Unlikely Candidates, Fontaines D.C. and Temper City kept the mix moving forward.

Segment 3 closed with Sublime’s “F.T.R.”, leading into a fourth segment highlighted by this week’s connection between Skratch N Sniff and The Pier.

ThePier.org Song of the Week: Surfer Girl – “Easy Tiger”

Surfer Girl’s “Easy Tiger” with Dylan Cotrone was featured in Segment 4 as ThePier.org Song of the Week, arriving alongside the release of the band’s new album, Midnight.

Fronted by former Aer vocalist Carter Reeves Schultz, the Los Angeles-by-way-of-Boston project continues to bridge indie, alternative pop and reggae-rock. Midnight includes appearances from Wiz Khalifa and Jack Pavlina and follows Surfer Girl’s 2025 album Sunset, which featured collaborations with Collie Buddz, Bryce Vine, Bobby Alu and more.

The album arrives after Surfer Girl wrapped a headlining run across the country. The band will head back on the road in November supporting Tropidelic, continuing a busy year on both the recording and touring fronts.

“Easy Tiger” landed between the Onbrand remix of Blink-182’s “Feeling This” and Harry Kaze’s remix of The Strokes’ “Someday,” with Louis La Roche’s take on The Smashing Pumpkins’ “1979” and LEAP’s “Exit Signs” completing Segment 4.

The final third of Alternative Mix #718 kept the same anything-goes approach. Pierce The Veil, Royal Blood, Coldplay, Weezer and Red Hot Chili Peppers were all reworked through SNS-ready remixes, while Bad Press, Fat Dog, Dead Poet Society and Ecca Vandal represented the newer side of the playlist.

Rock Mix #1234

Rock Mix #1234 pushed things considerably heavier.

The show opened with Meduso’s remix of Disturbed’s “Down With The Sickness”, followed by a Jonathan Davis remix of Hollywood Undead’s “Hear Me Now.” Tom Morello’s “Unconquered” featuring Kneecap and new music from Architects completed an opening segment that also put a fresh spin on Drowning Pool’s “Bodies.”

Segment 2 moved from a Crookers remix of AC/DC’s “Thunderstruck” into Beartooth’s “Beautiful Again” before revisiting Three Days Grace and Korn through new remix territory. Holding Absence’s “Modern Life is Lonely” closed the segment.

The middle of the show mixed some of hard rock and metal’s biggest names with newer releases. Metallica’s “Sad But True,” Linkin Park’s “Breaking The Habit” and Mötley Crüe’s “Kickstart My Heart” were all reworked, sitting alongside Nevertel’s “Last Breath” and Five Finger Death Punch’s “Nails In The Coffin.”

Segment 4 brought another rapid run through generations of heavy music. A Pixel Terror remix of Green Day’s “Brain Stew” led into From Ashes To New’s “Die For You,” followed by an LXS remix of Bad Omens’ “Impose,” a Jonathan Davis remix of Nothing More’s “Angel Song” and Yelawolf’s “My Country.”

The final stretch brought back Kadilak’s remix of the Beastie Boys’ “Sabotage” before Marilyn Manson’s “Exit Wound” and Dead Poet Society’s “Cold.” Evanescence and Orgy received remix treatments in between, setting up a closing segment that went even bigger.

Don Diablo’s remix of Nirvana’s “Smells Like Teen Spirit” opened Segment 6 before Falling In Reverse’s “JOSEPH,” featuring Corey Taylor and Serj Tankian, brought three major voices from different corners of heavy music together. A Debice remix of Slipknot’s “(sic)” and Groove Delight’s rework of P.O.D.’s “Youth of the Nation” followed before Fozzy’s “I Know All Evil” closed out Rock Mix #1234.

From Surfer Girl and Sublime to Tom Morello, Falling In Reverse and Architects, this weekend’s shows once again covered the space between alternative, reggae-rock, punk, metal and electronic music without staying in any one lane for long.
