AYo, music lovers! Get ready for some Red Hot Chili Peppers spice, ’cause we’ve got the inside scoop on Anthony Kiedis, the voice behind those legendary tunes. Now, you might think, “Why wouldn’t he consider himself a musician?” Well, my friends, we’ve got the lowdown.
Flea, the badass bassist from the Chili Peppers, hosts a killer podcast called This Little Light, where he chats with his bandmates. And guess what? He recently had a heart-to-heart with Kiedis himself. According to Classic Rock, things got real emotional when they dove into the singer’s role in the band.
Flea spilled the beans to the Los Angeles Times about this epic interview, saying, “It was really special, man. Both of us were on the verge of tears ’cause we hadn’t talked about this stuff before. You won’t believe it, but Anthony doesn’t even see himself as a musician or claim to have any music education!”
Hold up! Can you imagine that? Our boy Kiedis suggesting they rename the band “Idiot and the Three Geniuses.” People used to hate on him for that, comparing him to the likes of Eddie Vedder from Pearl Jam, who’s got a voice like freakin’ Pavarotti. But Flea ain’t having it. No way!
“I gotta tell you, man,” Flea spilled to the LA Times, “Anthony’s an incredible singer. He’s always evolving and getting better. When we started out, he couldn’t hit a single note, just screamed his lungs out. But now, he’s got these killer melodies, and he doesn’t even stick to them. He just flows and improvises like a boss!”
That’s right, y’all! Flea knows his stuff. He’s got a list of greats like Kurt Cobain, Jim Morrison, and Roger Daltrey, but for him, what matters is that a musician sounds like themselves. And let me tell you, nobody sounds like Anthony Kiedis, baby!
If you don’t believe us, check out the episode with Kiedis below. And hey, don’t forget, the Chili Peppers are still rockin’ hard. They dropped not one, but two albums last year: “Unlimited Love” and “Return of the Dream Canteen.” Catch ’em live on tour too! Check out the dates under the episode.
So there you have it, folks. Anthony Kiedis might not think of himself as a musician, but he’s got a voice that’s pure gold. And with Flea by his side, the Red Hot Chili Peppers are showing the world what real music is all about.
