Ozzfest is officially coming home. After Sharon Osbourne revealed plans to resurrect the legendary heavy metal festival in 2027, Ozzfest’s social media accounts have now confirmed that the festival will return to Villa Park in Birmingham, England, the same grounds where Ozzy Osbourne took his final bow in July 2025.
A date and lineup have yet to be announced, but the choice of venue gives the return considerably more weight than a typical festival revival. Villa Park hosted the historic Back to the Beginning concert last summer, an all star celebration that reunited the original lineup of Black Sabbath and marked the final live performance of Ozzy Osbourne.
The concert brought heavy metal back to the city where it was born, with generations of artists gathering in Birmingham to pay tribute to Sabbath and Ozzy. Just over two weeks later, Osbourne died at the age of 76, transforming what had already been billed as a farewell into the final chapter of one of rock’s most influential careers.
Now, Ozzfest is preparing to bring that legacy back to Birmingham.
Founded by Sharon and Ozzy Osbourne in 1996, Ozzfest became one of heavy music’s defining institutions, giving established metal giants and emerging acts a place on the same sprawling bill. Across its various incarnations, the festival helped introduce a new generation of fans to bands including Slipknot, System of a Down, Disturbed, Linkin Park and countless others, while regularly featuring heavyweights like Black Sabbath, Slayer, Judas Priest, Iron Maiden and Ozzy himself.
Its return without Ozzy inevitably changes what Ozzfest represents. What was once a festival built around the Prince of Darkness now has the opportunity to become something closer to a living monument to the scene he helped create.
And there may be more than one chance to experience it.
Sharon Osbourne has previously indicated that conversations with artists are already underway and that the revived Ozzfest could extend beyond Birmingham, with several dates potentially taking place in the United States.
Who ultimately joins the lineup remains the biggest unanswered question. But after Back to the Beginning assembled a staggering cross section of the hard rock and metal world to celebrate Sabbath and Ozzy, expectations surrounding Ozzfest’s resurrection will understandably be enormous.
For now, only one thing is official: In 2027, Ozzfest returns to Birmingham, bringing the festival that carried Ozzy Osbourne’s name around the world back to the city where his story began.
