Slipknot have parted ways with longtime drummer Jay Weinberg.
The band announced the split via a post on social media, which has since be deleted, but you can see in full below. The message remains on Slipknot’s website.
At the time of writing, there has been no official statement from Jay Weinberg regarding the split.
Jay Weinberg, renowned for his dynamic drumming style, took on the role of Slipknot’s drummer in 2014, succeeding the late Joey Jordison, who left the band in 2013. Notably, Jay Weinberg is the son of Max Weinberg, the long-time drummer for Bruce Springsteen’s E Street Band. His exceptional drumming skills, characterized by a combination of high energy and technical proficiency, swiftly resonated with Slipknot enthusiasts.
Before his tenure with Slipknot, Jay had already established himself as a notable drummer through his involvement in various bands and his experience filling in for his father during Bruce Springsteen’s live shows with the E Street Band. His adaptability and remarkable drumming abilities caught the attention of Slipknot, making him a perfect fit for the band’s aggressive and tumultuous musical style.
During his time with Slipknot, Jay contributed significantly to the band’s ongoing success, making notable appearances on their studio albums including “.5: The Gray Chapter” (2014), “We Are Not Your Kind” (2019), and “The End, So Far” (2022). He became an integral component of Slipknot’s iconic live performances, where his intense drumming skills and distinctive mask added to the band’s unique visual and auditory identity.
