Amigo the Devil Reveals Banned TV Commercial

Amigo the Devil,  dark-folk wizard at large, is dropping a new album, “Yours Until the War Is Over,” on February 23rd. But here’s the kicker – he’s doing things differently. Forget the usual song releases; he’s playing it mysterious.

First, he treated us to “Cannibal Within” and “The Mechanic.” But now, he slipped out another track, “Once Upon a Time at Texaco (PT. 1),” in a sneaky way. It’s not on the regular music platforms; he posted it secretly on YouTube. And guess what? Fans got wind of it not through Spotify but from a voicemail at the number (458) 867-1239. Yeah, he’s all about the old-school vibes.

Now, let’s talk drama. Amigo tried to get a wild commercial for “The Mechanic” on MTV and Cartoon Network’s Adult Swim. Alas, it got a big fat “no” for being “too violent.” Amigo spilled the tea on Instagram, saying, “We made a commercial for our little mechanic shop, and surprise, surprise, it was just too hot for TV.” Networks have turned him down before, but this time, they said the potential backlash wasn’t worth the money he was offering. Tough crowd, huh?

Here’s the twist: Amigo is asking for your help.  “Help us spread it around.” And in case you’re not into secret YouTube tracks, both the rejected commercial and the sneaky song are up there for your rebellious pleasure.

Intrigued? Amigo’s hitting the road, supporting Flogging Molly on a monthlong tour starting February 16th in Mashantucket, Connecticut, and ending on March 15th in Tucson, Arizona. Tickets? Yup, get ’em while they’re hot.

But it doesn’t end there. Catch Amigo at Flogging Molly’s Shamrock Rebellion festivals, plus Welcome to Rockville in May and Bourbon & Beyond in September.
