Pier Song of the Week on Skratch N Sniff: Loose Touch – Surfer Girl

This week’s Pier Song of the Week on the Skratch N Sniff Alt Show spotlights Surfer Girl and their new single “Lose Touch,” a smooth, genre-blurring release that continues the band’s evolution across indie pop, alt, and reggae-rock textures.

Fronted by Carter Reeves Schultz, formerly of Aer, Surfer Girl has carved out a lane that feels both nostalgic and forward-looking. “Lose Touch” leans into that balance, pairing breezy melodies with a reflective undercurrent that hints at the emotional tone of their upcoming album Midnight, due out August 21 via Ineffable Records.

The single marks the second preview of Midnight, following a productive run for the band after their 2025 album Sunset, which featured collaborations with artists like Collie Buddz, Bryce Vine, and Bobby Alu. That project helped cement Surfer Girl’s place in the modern alt-reggae conversation, and “Lose Touch” feels like a natural continuation with a slightly more introspective edge.

The release also arrives as the band gears up for their 15-date Skydiving Tour, bringing their laid-back but polished live show to fans across the country this spring.

You can catch “Lose Touch” featured on this week’s Skratch N Sniff Alt Show. Head to snsmix.com/radio to find a station airing the show near you, and check back on Monday to stream the full episode on SoundCloud.
