When Untitled released “Restless,” the song didn’t just break through—it detonated. The young alternative rock band went from playing in a garage with friends to amassing more than forty million streams and finding themselves at the center of one of rock music’s most unlikely success stories. Now, with their latest single “Nothing Good,” the band is looking to prove that lightning can strike twice.
If “Restless” introduced Untitled to the world, “Nothing Good” feels like the sound of a band growing more confident in its identity while refusing to lose the raw energy that made people pay attention in the first place.
For drummer Lorenzo, the song has been a favorite from the moment it came together.
“It lives up to the name,” he jokes before quickly adding that the track is “one of the songs that we’ve wrote so far that gets me the most excited when it comes to talking about it, playing it.”
Like much of Untitled’s catalog so far, “Nothing Good” wasn’t born from an elaborate writing retreat or months of studio experimentation. Instead, it emerged from the same fast-moving creative process that has defined the band since its earliest days.
“We were preparing for a show in Corona and Danny came to us with this riff that was the same thing the whole way through,” Lorenzo recalls. “And we’re like, that’s really cool. Let’s make it into something.”
What followed was a whirlwind creative sprint. The band challenged themselves to complete the song before an upcoming performance, a self-imposed deadline they frequently use to avoid overthinking.
“I think it took us like two or three days to get it to where we wanted it,” Lorenzo says. “And then we went with it to at least three or four studios before we actually got a version we enjoyed.”
That relentless pursuit of the right version has become a hallmark of Untitled’s rise. While the band has been embraced by a new generation of alternative rock fans and earned praise from outlets including VICE, BBC, and Kerrang!, they remain remarkably grounded about their success.
“It’s all on the internet, so is it even real?” Lorenzo says. “It doesn’t change the fact that we wake up in the same houses that we’ve been waking up in and that we eat the same breakfast in the same chairs every day.”
That perspective may be what keeps Untitled from becoming overwhelmed by the expectations surrounding them. While many young bands might feel pressure to chase another viral hit, the group appears more interested in creating songs that feel authentic to who they are.
Their upcoming debut album is still taking shape, but Lorenzo offers perhaps the most fitting description of what fans can expect.
“I mean, it’s loud,” he says with a laugh. “You know, so you don’t have a shortage of volume. You might have to turn down the stereo.”
For now, “Nothing Good” serves as the next chapter in one of alternative rock’s most exciting new stories. The song may have started as a simple riff brought into a rehearsal room, but like everything Untitled touches these days, it has the potential to become something much bigger.
