O.A.R. have returned with a new single, “Legacy,” featuring Citizen Cope and G. Love & Special Sauce.
The track brings together three longtime voices from the alternative, roots, rock and jam-adjacent worlds, connecting O.A.R.’s arena-sized songwriting with the soulful perspective of Citizen Cope and the bluesy, hip-hop-inflected style that has defined G. Love’s career for decades.
For O.A.R., “Legacy” arrives at a fitting moment. The Maryland band has spent more than three decades building one of the most successful independent careers in modern rock, growing from college-circuit favorites into a multi-platinum act with a devoted national following. Along the way, they have sold out major venues, including Madison Square Garden, while maintaining the grassroots spirit that helped define their early years.
“Legacy” taps into that sense of history without feeling like a victory lap. The single carries the reflective weight of a band looking back on the road behind them while still pushing forward with new music, new collaborations and a packed touring schedule. Citizen Cope and G. Love add their own lived-in textures to the track, giving it the feel of a conversation between artists who have each built lasting careers on their own terms.
The release also lands as O.A.R. continue their 42-date headlining Three Decades Tour, joined by Gavin DeGraw and Lisa Loeb. The run celebrates the band’s long-running catalog while giving fans a chance to hear new material in the same live setting that has always been central to O.A.R.’s identity.
