Babe Rainbow are back with “Waterfall,” the second single from their upcoming album ACID AND HONEY, and it feels like the band is opening up a new corner of their sound.
Set for release June 25 via Eureka/AWAL, “Waterfall” finds the Australian psych-pop outfit drifting into a super chill, psychedelic electronic world without losing the acoustic warmth that has always made their music feel so natural. The track carries the easygoing spirit Babe Rainbow fans know, but there is a new glow around it, pulling country-leaning textures, washed-out psych-pop and breezy summer production into one hazy package.
There are shades of Tame Impala in the track’s dreamy atmosphere and hints of Sheryl Crow in its sunlit, country-rock ease, but “Waterfall” still lands firmly in Babe Rainbow’s own universe. It is mellow, colorful and loose in the best way, the kind of song that feels built for a slow drive, a beach day, or a warm afternoon with nowhere urgent to be.
As the second preview of ACID AND HONEY, the track suggests that Babe Rainbow are continuing to evolve without abandoning the roots of what made them connect in the first place. The acoustic core is still there, but “Waterfall” lets the band stretch outward, adding a softer electronic pulse and a more expansive sense of space.
The single also arrives ahead of the band’s North American headlining tour, which begins July 15. With new music on the way and a full run of shows ahead, Babe Rainbow are setting up ACID AND HONEY as their next dreamy chapter.
