Avenged Sevenfold‘s latest album, Life Is But A Dream, has been blowing minds left and right since its release just a few days ago. But hold on to your headphones because we’ve got an almost-too-crazy-to-believe story for you: guess who almost made a guest appearance on the album? None other than the sensational Lionel Richie!
FunFact: I saw Lionel Ritchie play to a small crowd of maybe 50 at SXSW many moons ago and he brought out Kenny Rogers. This story has zero relevance but I wanted to share. Carry on.
In an interview on the Nik Nocturnal Podcast, the one and only M. Shadows spilled the beans on a near-miss collaboration. Picture this: that dreamy, lullaby-like bridge in Beautiful Morning, with the lyrics “It’s a beautiful morning, it’s a beautiful day, everybody is smiling in a beautiful way”… well, that part was initially meant to be sung by the soul and R&B legend himself. Can you imagine the sheer awesomeness?
Unfortunately, our beloved Lionel had his hands full with other commitments (like America’s Got Talent, of all things!). Shadows spilled the beans, saying, “We were in talks with Lionel Richie about doing that vocal part… for what felt like an eternity! But, you know, life gets busy, and Lionel got caught up in his own whirlwind. Still, it would have been absolutely mind-blowing, and everyone would have been like, ‘Wait, what?!'”
Oh, the things that could have been! Just picture the blend of Avenged Sevenfold’s hard-hitting energy and Lionel Richie’s smooth vocals. It would have been a musical match made in heaven, leaving us all grinning from ear to ear. Alas, it wasn’t meant to be, but hey, we can still dream, right?
So, let’s crank up Avenged Sevenfold’s Life Is But A Dream, appreciate the album’s mind-blowing awesomeness, and maybe, just maybe, imagine what could have been if Lionel Richie had hopped on board. Stay tuned for more incredible stories, surprises, and out-of-this-world collaborations here at snsmix.com! Rock on!
