Watch the trailer for the upcoming reboot of goth classic The Crow, soundtracked by Ozzy Osbourne and Post Malone’s collab Take What You Want, and featuring Bill Skarsgård taking on the titular role.
Three decades on from the original, the gory first trailer for “The Crow” reboot has been released.
“And much like the 1994 classic – based on James O’Barr’s 1989 comic book series – had a killer soundtrack featuring everyone from Nine Inch Nails to Rage Against The Machine, this initial nearly-three-minute look at the remake plays out with Ozzy Osbourne and Post Malone’s 2019 collab ‘Take What You Want’ in the background.”
It also gives us the first proper look at Bill Skarsgård as Eric Draven and FKA twigs as Shelly Webster, who are both “brutally murdered when the demons of her dark past catch up with them,” reads the synopsis. “Given the chance to save his true love by sacrificing himself, Eric sets out to seek merciless revenge on their killers, traversing the worlds of the living and the dead to put the wrong things right.”
“Of course, there are plenty of fans who have said ‘The Crow’ shouldn’t be remade, given that original lead actor Brandon Lee died from a freak on-set accident from a prop gun during filming.”
“Obviously, it was a terrible tragedy, and it’s definitely something that we’ve always had in mind through the making of the film,” director Rupert Sanders told Vanity Fair last month. “Brandon was an original voice and I think he will always be synonymous with ‘The Crow’ and I hope he’s proud of what we’ve done and how we’ve brought the story back again. His soul is very much alive in this film. There’s a real fragility and beauty to his version of ‘The Crow’, and I think Bill feels like he is a successor to that.”
“The Crow” hits cinemas on June 7.
