I love a good tease, especially when it comes to fruition. I recognize the value of patience, my insatiable appetite for fresh music leaves me eagerly anticipating each new track. I stumbled upon a band teasing their debut single earlier this year.
In their grand entrance onto the music scene, UK duo Good Neighbours unveiled their debut single “Home” – a poignant and uplifting anthem bound to stir up feelings of homesickness. With its powerful bass lines and heartfelt vocals, “Home” channels the same energy that captivated us during the Tumblr era of 2014 or upon first hearing Grouplove’s “Tongue Tied.” Balancing nostalgia with innovation, Good Neighbours demonstrate a knack for poignant songwriting that tugs at the heartstrings, a quality that I find truly captivating.
While “Home” marks Good Neighbours’ inaugural collaboration, its members, Oli Fox and Scott Verrill, are far from newcomers to the music scene. Oli Fox, hailing from Essex, gained recognition as a talented songwriter when he supported Sigrid on her UK tour in 2018. On the other hand, Scott Verrill, originating from South London, made his mark with his solo project kwassa, drawing inspiration from Vampire Weekend’s sound and even gracing the stages of Glastonbury years ago. Now, in 2024, these two rising stars join forces to offer listeners a refreshing take on indie-rock, blending their individual talents into a harmonious partnership.
With more music and collaborations potentially on the horizon, Good Neighbours show no signs of slowing down as they continue to captivate audiences in the year ahead.
