GLU Shares Nostalgic New Single “LA” Featuring Lily James Ahead of PONY BOY EP

GLU, the solo project of Michael Shuman (Queens of the Stone Age, Mini Mansions), has released his latest single “LA,” a breezy, nostalgic track featuring vocals from Lily James. The song arrives as the newest preview of GLU’s upcoming EP PONY BOY, due out August 14 via FLG.

Built around a warm, sun-soaked groove, “LA” leans into the feeling of hometown nostalgia, capturing the pull of Los Angeles through Shuman’s lens as a lifelong native. The track pairs his genre-blurring approach with James’ airy vocal performance, giving the song a laid-back but emotionally grounded feel that fits squarely into summer rotation.

Shuman describes the track as a personal reflection on returning home after years on the road, calling it a tribute to the “endless summer” feeling that defines the city. Though written several years ago, “LA” lands at a moment where GLU’s sound continues to expand beyond its initial framing as a side project.

The single follows earlier PONY BOY releases, including the reworked cover of Crush and the EP’s title track, both of which showcased different corners of GLU’s sonic palette. With “LA,” the project pivots toward something more nostalgic and melodic, without losing its experimental edge.

Since launching in 2023 with the MY DEMONS EP, GLU has steadily built momentum through a mix of raw songwriting and dance-forward production. Tracks like “BOOGIE MAN” helped push the project to a wider audience, earning a placement in MLB The Show 25 and contributing to millions of global streams.

That growth has translated to the stage as well, with GLU touring across the US and Europe alongside acts like The Kills, Blood Red Shoes, and Miles Kane, while also headlining its own shows.

With PONY BOY on the horizon, “LA” continues to position GLU as a project that comfortably moves between indie, alt-pop, and dance influences—less a side project and more a fully realized creative outlet.
