CANDLEBOX HAVE A SEVEN-LP BOX SET OF THEIR EARLY ALBUMS, PLUS THEIR FINAL STUDIO ALBUM, ON THE WAY
Candlebox is making the most of their eventful year, ensuring they bid adieu in grand fashion. Mark your calendars for August 25th as the veteran post-grunge ensemble prepares to unveil their ultimate album, titled “The Long Goodbye.” The festivities don’t stop there, as Rhino Records has exciting news – a commemorative reissue box set of Candlebox’s works, aptly named “The Maverick Years,” is set to grace us on September 22nd.
A magnificent seven-LP vinyl compilation, boasting enriched editions of the group’s inaugural trio of albums, along with an enticing array of previously unreleased tracks. The Maverick Years boasts meticulously remastered and extended two-LP vinyl renditions of the following Candlebox classics: “Candlebox” (1993), “Lucy” (1995), and “Happy Pills” (1998). Furthermore, each LP showcases additional bonus tracks, while an extra LP unveils an assortment of unreleased gems, including a “Happy Pills” demo, a remixed rendition of “Sometimes,” and more sonic treasures.
In the meantime, let’s not forget about their crowning jewel, “The Long Goodbye.” Currently, Candlebox is on an exhilarating journey alongside 3 Doors Down, lending their unwavering support to the album. This musical escapade kicked off in June and is destined to weave its sonic spell until September 23rd, culminating in a spectacular show in Houston, Texas. And the saga continues, with both musical entities reuniting on October 21st for 3 Doors Down’s illustrious “The Better Life Foundation Concert” in the heart of Cherokee, North Carolina.
It all started with Candlebox’s eponymous debut in 1993, a cornerstone of the upcoming box set. This LP achieved an astounding four-time platinum status and birthed two resounding rock radio triumphs: “Far Beyond” and “You.”
In a conversation with Audio Ink Radio, Candlebox’s lead vocalist, Kevin Martin, shared reminiscences of their emergence within the vibrant Seattle scene of the 1990s. He mused, “It was a magical era. An array of bands graced the stage, each emanating a unique style and sound. Interestingly, the term ‘grunge’ captures only a fragment of the diverse musical landscape that Seattle birthed during that era. True grunge, in my view, would likely be exemplified by bands like Tad or the Melvins.”
