IDLES just dropped the news like a sassy mic drop: TANGK, their fifth album, is set to hit the world on Feb. 16 via Partisan. They teamed up with the musical wizards Nigel Godrich (you know, the Radiohead genius), Kenny Beats (the mastermind behind 2021’s CRAWLER), and their own Mark Bowen to cook up this sonic feast. Frontman Joe Talbot spilled the tea, saying, “TANGK. I needed love. So I made it. I gave love out to the world, and it feels like pure magic. This is our album of gratitude and power. All love songs. All is love.”
Hold onto your dancing shoes, ’cause the first single, “Dancer,” is ready to light up your ear buds. They brought in the fabulous duo of James Murphy and Nancy Whang from LCD Soundsystem for this banger. Remember that epic IDLES and LCD tour this summer? Well, it seems they’re still riding that high. According to Talbot, “‘Dancer’ is the violence that comes from the pounding heart of the dancefloor and rushes through your body, giving you life from music, from love, and from yourself.”
There’s a “Dancer” video that’s so appropriately choreographed it’ll make your dancing feet tingle. And don’t forget to peep the album’s artwork and tracklist.
