Basil Iwanyk addresses fifth installment possibilities and shares insight on the story's timeline
The John Wick saga just hit its peak with the fourth chapter, and let me tell ya, it’s like fireworks on the Fourth of July (if you’re in America, of course) – a seriously epic finale that could put an exclamation point on Keanu Reeves‘ character’s wild ride. But guess what, folks? We’re not done yet! There’s some chatter about a fifth flick because, you know, the last one made buckets of moolah, and our buddy Basil Iwanyk thinks there’s more juice left in the saga tank.
Now, don’t get me wrong, they’ve been trying to spread the John Wick love beyond our man Keanu – we’ve got ‘The Continental: From the World of John Wick’ series and the Ana de Armas starrer ‘Ballerina’ coming our way. But let’s keep it real, nothing hits the bullseye like the original story. I mean, ‘The Continental’ got a mixed bag of reviews, so it totally makes sense that Lionsgate’s hungry for more of the main saga action. We just can’t get enough of our Baba Yaga, can we?

“So I think that what I love about the end of John Wick 4 is, if this means that there’s never another John Wick movie, it’s a nice elegant way of ending it, right? If there is another John Wick movie, which I do believe there will be, we don’t know what it is yet, but I do believe. I do feel like it will be a completely other book. If these movies were four chapters, you kind of blame it on the metaphor. The next John Wick will be another book. It won’t be like six months later from John Wick 4.
We just don’t know what that is. But we all love spending time together, and we love the process. The more time that goes by, the more we miss it. As demented as it sounds, and these movies are really hard to pull off, there’s something really exciting about making these movies. And I don’t even mean talking to you, and the box office. I just mean, mounting it, preparing for it, casting for it. It’s fun as s—t.”
